A Beautiful Home

While cruising through some of the archived issues of Lonny, I noticed a pair of
vintage brass impala bookends identical to the pair recently listed in the shop:

They happen to belong to writers Tom Dolby and Drew Frist who recently founded an e-publishing company, Electric Type. The duo worked with designer and shop owner David Cafiero
in renovating their 1930s Hamptons home, and the result is simply incredible.

Even if you've seen these images before, they are worth another look!

Pineapple, Please

The pineapple. A longtime symbol of hospitality, its image reminds me of Colonial times, historic Williamsburg, and over-the-door wreaths of welcome. Lately, however, I've come across some wonderful instances where the traditional motif has taken a twist.

Upholstery fabric - Megan by Rubie Green:

Its Main Club was recently updated by designer Tom Sheerer, and he went all out!

It would be impossible not to have a great time in this space. Well done!

Paul Revere Style Bowls

Two beautiful Paul Revere style silver plate bowls are currently in the shop, one by Gorham and another by Oneida

These round footed bowls get their name from the original Sons of Liberty Bowl commissioned as a gift for the House of Representatives and made in 1768 by American silversmith and patriot, Paul Revere. It can be seen today in the amazing new Art of the Americas Wing (53 new galleries!) at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (my beloved former employer).

So versatile, Paul Revere style bowls can be used throughout your home.

They're perfect on a coffee table:

Filled with flowers for a statement centerpiece:

Or holding fruits and vegetables in kitchen:

Gaga for Gingham

Gingham--it's a tried and true pattern with all-American appeal. The classic check design looks just as good in your home (on your china, walls, floor, furniture...) as it does on a shirt!

Whale Wonderful

Four whales were added to the shop today--two brass figurinestwo ceramic salt & pepper shakers. They reminded me of Walnut Wallpaper's Little Whales pattern. It's stylized design makes a bold statement and gives a fun, nautical vibe to these rooms:

No Bird Required

How charming is this vintage bamboo bird cage built like a house? No matter the size or shape, bird cages often have great sculptural appeal and can be a unique accessory for a home--no bird required! They work on a shelf or hung from above, and look good in their natural state or painted a fun color...

Bird cages also work well for styling an event. Fill them with flowers or candles for a special centerpiece, or string several together for lantern style lights!
