Blue Willow

I could never tire of Blue Willow, the classic blue and white pattern originally designed by Thomas Minton circa 1790. The beautiful chinoiserie scene includes an Asian landscape with pagodas, love birds, and a bold geometric rim. Equally perfect in a formal or casual setting, it works well mixed with other white or colored china--and looks great hung on the wall too!

Flamingo Fancy

Aren't these new tall vintage brass flamingo crane birds stunning? I've never seen another pair like them. At 17" high, they're incredibly statuesque and would look so chic on a mantle or console table. They have such an elegant form and the polished brass reflects light beautifully.

The popular pink bird looks amazing inside the home:

And in the wild:

Happy Flamingo Friday.

The Allure of Velvet

Velvet: it's soft, rich, luxe, warm. It has a timeless appeal and can be especially welcome in cooler climates. It works equally well on large and small scale furniture, and it comes in all shades of the rainbow....

White Octagonal Table Lamp

Isn't this a great image? I love the red + black klismos chairs, the vase full of white lillies,
the antiqued mirrored walls, and that vintage white octagonal ceramic table lamp.

We have an identical lamp new in the shop and it's in fabulous condition:

Happy Weekend!

Stirrup Cups + The Fox Hunt

This rare vintage brass stirrup cup is so unique. Fabulous to look at and fun to use,
the intricate dog head doubles as a base and it has a heavy, quality feel in your hand.

Stirrup cups are traditionally offered to riders before a classic English fox hunt.
They're often filled with port or sherry as part of a special toast to begin the festivities.

While on the topic of old English traditions, have you seen Downton Abbey
I just finished season one and can't recommend it enough. It is so, so good.
The second season of the British period drama premieres on January 8th!

Clear Glass Orbs

Clear vintage glass orbs are tough to find and make unique gifts. Quite heavy, they work
perfectly as paperweights on a desk but also look great on a coffee table or side table
(the bubbles suspended from within reflect the light beautifully!).
